What is the Innovation Sandbox?
We are a student-run organization funded in part through the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Our group of diverse, innovative volunteers is dedicated to the development of student projects and ideation. To that end, we offer free 3D printing to all Cal Poly students, as well as the use of our CNC router, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and hand tools. Students who are interested in trying VR can come use our Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
Location and Hours
The Innovation Sandbox is located in 197-205 (Bonderson Projects Center). We’re open 11am-6pm Monday through Friday, except for school breaks/holidays and the first and last weeks of each quarter. Check the whiteboard outside our door for more information.
Starting Fall 2019, the Innovation Sandbox will become more than just a printing service. Throughout the year, we plan to start offering workshops and facilitating Sandbox-organized student projects. Our new 3D print system will ensure that students who rely on our printing services should never experience a decline in the speed or quality of the parts we produce.
